Day 1: Arrive AucklandKia Ora and welcome to New Zealand. On arrival to Auckland Airport you will be met by a representative of Pacific Destinationz who will present you with your documentation and assist with any questions you have.
Collect your Budget Rental Car at the Airport and make your way to your accommodation.

Day 2: AucklandCooked breakfast is included this morning. This morning (10am) travel aboard the Fullers ferry to Waiheke Island. On arrival you will be met by a representative of Waiheke Executive Transport for your vineyard tour of the Island. Enjoy a scenic drive with full driver commentary, wine tasting at 3 different vineyards followed by lunch at either a vineyard or a cafe' of your choice. You will learn why Waiheke is known as the island of wine. Visit an olive oil producer. Tastings are included.

Day 3: Auckland/Pauanui (Approx. 180km)Cooked breakfast is included this morning. Depart Auckland and travel to the Coromandel region. The Coromandel Peninsula is one of New Zealand’s favourite summertime spots with endless beaches, coves and bush walkways. COROMANDEL PENINSULA - the Peninsula juts out from the South Auckland coastline to separate the Hauraki Gulf from the Bay of Plenty. Deep in the bush lie abandoned mining machinery, old kauri water dams, and timber milling equipment. The Peninsula is full of contrasts - the sea lapping on quiet golden beaches, or crashing onto jagged rocks at the bottom of a steep cliff. Farmland is fertile in some places, and in other areas has reverted to manuka and gorse. On arrival to Pauanui join Kiwi Dundee Adventures and take a specially designed magical and informative nature tour in the spectacular Coromandel Peninsula where your local guide resides. Day 4: Pauanui/Rotorua (Approx. 250km)Cooked breakfast is included this morning at Grand Mercure Puka Park. Following a restful morning travel south to Rotorua. Upon arrival visit Wai-o-tapu, a wonderland of stunning geothermal activity located 27 kilometres south of Rotorua, the gateway to New Zealand’s most colourful natural volcanic environment. Unique features include the world famous champagne pool, geysers, bubbling mud, steaming ground, expansive vistas, huge volcanic craters and sinter terrace formations. Day 5: RotoruaCooked breakfast is included this morning. Enjoy this morning to explore Rotorua at your leisure. Also included is a visit to Te Puia Thermal Reserve and Maori Cultural Centre. Step into the ancient valley where geysers, mud pools and boiling waters still play after 40,000 years. It is within this valley where the fortress of Te Puia once stood, a stronghold never taken in battle. It is here where the descendants of the ancients still live today, walking and guiding you through a land more than 40,000 years old. The richness of history in the valley is second only to the power of Nature. This evening you will enjoy a typical Maori cultural performance and dinner. Day 6: Rotorua/QueenstownThis morning cooked breakfast is included at your accommodation. Return your rental car to the representative at Rotorua airport before checking in for your flight to Queenstown (flight not included). On arrival to Queenstown Airport you will be met by Glacier Southern Lakes Helicopters Ltd for a scenic helicopter flight over the Remarkables. Once returning to Queenstown Airport collect your new rental vehicle and make your way to your accommodation. Included in your documents there are return Skyline Gondola tickets to the summit of Bob’s Peak where you can enjoy panoramic views of Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu and buffet lunch. Day 7: QueenstownThis morning cooked breakfast is included at your accommodation. Today is at your leisure in Queenstown. Others who prefer to begin their day a little more sedately can sit back and enjoy the views on a 4WD trip along the famous Skippers Road, originally built by hand in the 1800's by the early gold miners. Meet up for an exhilariting jet boat ride through the upper reaches of Skippers Canyon. Then kick back with a picnic lunch amongst the most spectacular scenery made famous in the Lord of the Rings films. Visit a private gold mining museum and park, created by descendants of one of the original prospectors families who still live in this isolated canyon. Learn to pan for gold with an expert. Get hands-on with old mine workings and equipment, see a sliuce water cannon in operation, even swing a pick! Cross a scary ravine swingbridge and look down into an unusual slot gorge from high above.(Cost includes private transport, your own PURE Adventure guide and lunch). Day 8: QueenstownThis morning cooked breakfast is included at your accommodation. Today Dart River Jetboat Safaris will meet you at your hotel for your full day excursion to Glenorchy and the surrounding areas. Depart hotel by coach for Glenorchy (about 45kms from Queenstown) along the Lake Wakatipu shoreline, one of the most scenic highways in the world. On arrival in Glenorchy you will begin your Dart River Safaris experience - a 4x4 back-road trip to “Paradise” and return journey to Glenorchy by jet boat (or vice versa) which will allow you to experience first hand some of the stunning locations which featured in the famous film, The Lord of The Rings. Day 9: Queenstown/Franz Josef (Approx. 407km)Cooked breakfast is included this morning in your hotel. Today travel via Wanaka to Hasst Pass and Paringa to Franz Josef Glacier. Lunch is included at the Salmon Cafe en route. FRANZ JOSEF GLACIER - originally named Victoria, after Queen Victoria of England, geologist Julius Von Haast, renamed it, Franz Josef, after the current Emperor of his homeland, Austria. The Glacier is pale blue/green ice that has retreated and advanced many times over the years. A walk from the carpark to the Glacier terminal will give you some impressive views and an idea of the immense size of the Glacier itself. The township of Franz Josef is a small town based around the tourist and supply trade. Dinner is included this evening at your accommodation. Day 10: Franz JosefFranz Josef Glacier Guides Half Day Glacier Walk (departs 8.45am, 10.30am, 12.30pm plus 3pm in summer, duration 4-5 hours) This is a fantastic introduction to an enthralling world of ice, traversing spectacular tracks of only moderate difficulty. The walk is longer in duration than others offered allowing you more time to enjoy the impressive terrain on the lower reaches of Franz Josef Glacier. After a short walk through regenerating rainforest, the trip continues along the glacier valley with your guide calling stops to explain the unique features of the Franz Josef Glacier and its surroundings. After strapping on crampons you make your way up the terminal face of the glacier, where pre-formed tracks make exploring the lower reaches of the glacier achievable for most agile people. The terrain can look daunting, but the huge effort the guides put into creating extensive trails, allows you to travel further and see more, in comfort and ease. Please bring: 3 - 4 warm layers for your upper body (ideally woollen or polypro, not cotton) and pair of lightweight trousers. NO JEANS (as they get cold when wet). Day 11: Franz Josef/Christchurch (Approx/ 395km)This morning enjoy cooked breakfast in your hotel. Today travel north to Greymouth, famous for the production of jade, and continue across Arthurs Pass to Christchurch. Situated midway between Canterbury and Westland, Arthurs Pass connects the South Island’s west and east coasts and is the highest of the three roads that cross the Southern Alps. Day 12: Christchurch/Kaikoura/Christchurch (Approx. 366km)This morning enjoy cooked breakfast in your hotel. Today travel north to Kaikoura, famous for its marine life. Upon your arrival take a 3 hour cruise in search of whales, dolphins, seals and other spectacular wildlife. Enjoy a crayfish lunch at Fyffe Country Lodge. Day 13: Depart ChristchurchThis morning enjoy cooked breakfast in your hotel. Dependant on your flight time you may wish to spend the morning exploring the city at your leisure and picking up any last minute gifts for friends and loved ones back home. Today return your rental car to the representative at Christchurch Airport before your departure flight (flight not included)
