Abel Tasman 5 Day Guided Hike

Located at the top of the South Island you will find the Abel Tasman National Park. This subtropical region includes thousands of hectares of native forest, beautiful golden sand beaches, clear coastal waters. The 3 & 5 Day guided walks follow the coastline to Meadowbank Homestead & Torrent Bay Lodge offering excellent walking for both the beginner and experienced walker.

Day 1 : Nelson - Motueka - Kaiteriteri - Totaranui - Anapai - Awaroa

Walking time 4-5 hours, 10-15 km (depending on options)

• Pick up from Nelson by coach (7.30am) or Moteuka (8.30am)
• Complimentary lunch and use of day pack – No heavy packs required
• Overnight luggage transported to each lodge by boat
• Coastline cruise from Kaiteriteri with commentary highlights
• Walk from Totaranui north to Anapai Bay (or further for the energetic) then return to the Meadowbank Homestead – Awaroa situated on the beachfront

Day 2 : Explore Awaroa

Walking or Canoeing time  up to 4 hours, 8km

• Relax or be active
• Explore tidal estuary by canoe or on foot
• Visit various early European or pre-European sites with guide
• Unwind on the beach

Day 3 : Awaroa - Torrent Bay

Walking time 5 hours, 15km

• Leave Awaroa and walk over Tonga Saddle
• Guided visit to abandoned granite quarry. View granite archways
• Stop for lunch at Bark Bay – relax on golden sand, explore, swim in lagoon
• Walk to Falls River. View native forests, headlands, estuaries and beaches
• Continue on to Torrent Bay
• Overnight at Torrent Bay Lodge situated on the beachfront 

Day 4: Exploring Torrent Bay

Walking time up to 5 hours, 10km

• Guided walk inland among first generation forest to Falls River Waterfalls
• Use canoes to explore Torrent Bay estuary
• Choice of many beautiful short walks, including Anchorage and Te Pukatea beaches, and a Maori archaeological site at Pitt Head
• Enjoy another night at Torrent Bay Lodge 

Day 5: Torrent Bay - Marahau

Walking time 4 hours, 13km

• Final Day of your Abel Tasman Walk
• Well graded track weaves in an out of coastline
• Lunch at one of the bays, then walk the last leg to Marahau
• Return by coach to Moteuka (4.30pm) or Nelson (5.30pm) 

This walk can be amended to the Walk/Kayak Trip option as the price and departure days are the same.
Please specify when you book, which option you require i.e.: Walk Only or Kayak/Walk.
There is no Child rate option for the Kayak/Walk trips of 3 or 5 day duration.
Child rate only applies for the 2 Day Abel Tasman.
