Whare Kea LodgeAmongst the mountains of New Zealand’s spectacular Southern Alps and on the shore of glacial Lake Wanaka lies the private alpine haven of Whare Kea Lodge. Located on 70 acres of private farmland this inspiring building captures the full beauty and grandeur of its lake-side setting and alpine views, whilst providing the ultimate in sophisticated accommodation for guests.
Designed to capture the setting’s unique feeling of space and light, Whare Kea appears to float above the water allowing guests to enjoy the magnificent location in an intimate atmosphere. The Lodge has two master suites and four deluxe rooms accommodating a maximum of twelve guests, each with kingsize bed and large bathroom with both double bath and shower. All rooms have direct access to the sun deck with an outdoor table setting. The central living area comprises three lounge spaces including open fire, a bar and dining area. In addition there is a billiard & TV lounge room, massage room, cellar room, drying room, guest communications centre as well as outdoor areas.
The day starts with a sumptuous smorgasbord breakfast in the early morning sunshine. Fill your days with any manner of outdoor activities. Beautiful lakeside walks start right at the front door. Or try a heli-hike / picnic with a gourmet lunch. Spring and autumn are best for trout and salmon fishing in the lakes and Mountain Rivers. Perhaps you would prefer to play golf at one of the three nearby courses.
At the end of the day indulge with a massage or just relax with a drink in the spa overlooking the lake.
