Amid towering mountain peaks and green high country pasture, the Lodge and its adjoining villas are luxuriously appointed and every suite exudes intimacy and romance. Matakauri lodge is set in nine acres of native bush, partially landscaped with rolling lawns, a meandering stream and surrounded by a pine forest which creates an atmosphere of supreme privacy and enjoyment.

The three suites and four villas feature combinations of separate lounges with log fireplaces (villas only) opening onto large private balconies. The large bathrooms in the villas all have spectacular views and offer double spa baths, double showers and twin vanities, as well as heated slate floors, spa tiles and towel rails. The king-size beds are all dressed in the finest cotton linen and feather and down pillows. Each villa and suite has a bar fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, satellite television, CD and video player, as well as simultaneous telephone and internet access lines.
