Maruia River Lodge

Maruia River Lodge is an exclusive, luxury wilderness lodge set amid an inspiring realm of crystal clear rivers and streams. Here is your gateway to the South Island’s dramatic mountain country and the glories of the Buller Gorge, West Coast and Nelson Lakes National Park.

Privacy is paramount when you stay in one of the seven tastefully appointed Chalets (5 x Deluxe, 2 x Grand Deluxe), each with a stunning view of the Maruia River. Even the Chalet bathrooms are luxurious, being marble clad with under-floor heating. Maruia River Lodge has more than two kilometres of river frontage and 200 hectares of pristine native beech forest – explore as much or as little as you please on pathways that take you over brooks and waterfalls.

Besides some of the country’s finest trout fishing and hunting, other local activities include kayaking, river rafting, jet boating, bird watching, hiking, horse trekking, clay bird shooting, historic or scenic tours or just relaxing at the Lodge.

Come and experience the unique blend of Lord of the Rings scenery, first class local food and wine, and most of all the care and attention of Kiwi hosts, passionate about our beautiful landscape and culture.

Located 2 hours drive from either Nelson or Greymouth or 3.5 hours from Christchurch.
