The Portage has been greeting guests to the Marlborough Sounds for over 100 years and has recently been refurbished. There are 35 Resort style hotel rooms with spectacular views over the wide quiet bay of Kenepuru Sounds.

Guests can base themselves at the Resort to enjoy a range of water, walks and wine experiences with the Discover Portage program. Activities include a two hour Mussel Cruise and Tasting, a half day fishing charter, sea kayaking, half day winery tour, a cruise on Queen Charlotte Sound, a short walk on the Queen Charlotte Track and a Dolphin Watch Eco Tour.

The Portage offers a range of dining experiences, from quality dining at Te Weka Restaurant, to casual waterfront meals in the Snapper Café. Guests can enjoy fresh, simple New Zealand dishes that complement the Marlborough wines featured on The Portage wine list.

Access to The Portage is fast and easy. Just ten minutes by water from Picton or 1.25 hours on a sealed road. The Resort is also the third night stay on the Queen Charlotte Track.
