Aachen House2005 was a year of celebration for Aachen House, a 9 room luxury boutique hotel in Auckland. Firstly 2005 was a celebration of the building’s 100th birthday, quite a milestone in this young country, and the 10th year of ownership and management by Joan and Greg McKirdy and then the World Travel Award of “Leading Boutique Hotel in Australasia.” From the time you step through the door, through the gallery of antiques and experience large, luxurious rooms you will be aware of the attention to detail and love of fine things that has made this a haven for guests, and the experienced hotel team who have over the years perfected the art of personal, discreet service. The hotel is situated in a exclusive central garden suburb close to shops, cafes, galleries and walking tracks on nearby Mount Hobson, one of Auckland’s many extinct volcanic hills. Five rooms and suites have direct access to private verandas and the garden. The marble floored conservatory is the venue for the gourmet breakfast, and pre dinner drinks may be taken in the garden teahouse.
